Dinner and a Movie

Colors, lighting, shape, contrast and flow all came to be while working on the project “Dinner and a Movie”. My colors portray a sense of minimalist. 

To start, the flowers are decaying, dying and contrasting against the white background. Next is the pills, being a bright green, they pop out at the viewer. The knife, which is another item used, is also apart of the style of minimalistic but down right dark. 

I look at this artwork as a whole and a few overall themes are used, as stated before, minimalist is one but others are thought of too. Those being dreary, crumbling, frighten, mysterious and my favorite depressing

Figurative bust

Going into this project I was looking at current world problems but it ended at me looking at problems and worldly issues in myself. One being body dyspormya. This is a not so known about problem that leads people in which you can't stop thinking about one or more perceived defects or flaws in your appearance. For me it was a flaw that appears minor or can't be seen by others. This can lead to embarrassment, anxious thoughts or even just constantly working for that ideal body type. 

I wanted these bust to reflect me and my story about this issue. One bust on the right is a skinny but well built kid, it reflects how I currently see myself. The other bust on the left reflects another side of me, where I see myself as always waning to be bigger, as I've always been the skinny one. 

I made these bust to reflect on each other and be able to looked at in many ways. These mirrors not only show this but define how both ways can be looked at. 

Going onto the base, I wanted this to be a major factor, one that draws the viewers eyes away but while still having a huge meaning. The tile is suppose to reflect the idea that this mental health disorder mainly effects me while im in the bathroom looking at myself in the mirror. The colors and strong patterns reflect this idea of a bathroom. 

Gregor's Room

Artist statement: I started this project with having a strong background  about the book that our art pieces were based upon. With this knowledge I created my own imagery of Gregors (the main character) room. I wanted the room to be what the viewer recognized as a room but everything will be slightly off. I first created a bed but it is slightly raised and tilted. To create this, I used pegs and tons of paper wraps that were dipped in water to create a paste like substance. This was used on most if not all of my items. Another piece of furniture I made was the dresser. This was made by just creating a square but by also using acrylic water down paint to create the color texture to it. 

Overall, my finals results is what I wanted it to be, a direct reflection of my own imagery. I semi realistic room but where wetting has a sense of question is exactly what I was hoping for. The dark colors and the snake like character of Gregor reflect how I viewed his room to be. Dark, dreary and down right depressing.

Statement: Being a digital designer, I wanted to use a medium that I am good at. I wanted the viewer to instantly feel a depth of darkness. I created the background to be empty but the thorns to have a feeling of 3D and a sharp meaning of bad emotions. As stated "Problems can be thorny, ticklish, sticky, or need to be handled with kid gloves". Pg56

Statement: I wanted to keep this artwork simple too. With keeping my blog having a white background, it looks like the lady, man and hearts are floating. This connects to the statement of the open love between too people kissing.

A Few of My Favorite Things

 

1. Motorcycle helmet - I own a 2021 Ninja 400 which is a motorcycle. It has now became one of my top hobbies. I love to go ride around on A1A all the time.

2. Pre-Workout from Ghost - This is a pre workout from ghost. It shows one of my other hobbies which is working out. I love to workout and this supplement keeps me awake. 

3. Star Wars Phone Holder - This is a Star Wars phone holder shaped like a character. I am a huge Star Wars nerd so I had to get this for my collection. 

4. Dolphins Hat. - This just shows that I am a Miami Dolphins fan. I have been since I was a little kid. 

5. Markers. - These are just cheap markers but I've had them for so long and they are my favorite to just doodle along with. 

6. Sneakers - I am a huge sneaker fan. I have way too many pair but I love to collect them because they show my style off.
